About Strawberry Moon

Strawberry Moon Ranch is a small family ranch. We are interested in art, science and permaculture. Norm’s family bought the ranch in 1977. His love of nature and passion for art flourished here. He wanted to create an inspiring oasis for artists. The artists and animals who call Strawberry Moon home have changed throughout the years and all have left their mark.

When Rowan arrived at the ranch in 2020 she took over tending the sheep so Norm could focus on art. After a steep learning curve in the beginning, she will be expanding the sheep herd in 2026. Rowan has become very interested in wool and its many applications. The best part about wool is that it leaves no plastic residue in our water. There are other amazing attributes too numerous to mention here. You can check on our blog page for updates on the wool journey.

Stella began the goat program in 2022 with 3 alpine/nubian kids. We took in 3 rescue goats last fall and now have a herd of 6. We have milk and cheese for our family and enjoy the goats for their eccentric personalities. We will be expanding the goat herd slowly in the next few years and will have artisan cheese available in small batches. Stay tuned and meanwhile enjoy their beauty and humor!

Norm has always had a handful of chickens for fresh eggs and now we have expanded that with more chickens as well as heritage turkeys and ducks. We currently have eggs for sale peer to peer for people who know us and plan to expand our egg sales.

We are experimenting and learning about insect farming and will be adding that likely in summer of 2026. Our own birds eat a lot of freeze dried grubs and we will start by making our own feed for them. Also Rowan has always been a big supporter of the idea of insects being a protein source for humanity. At some point this will be an interesting blog topic and now that Rowan’s kids are grown she is allowed to openly discuss this topic! Growing up they had a rule that Rowan was not allowed to eat bugs or talk about it when friends were over, which demonstrates our cultural bias against this amazing healthy resource.

We also have berry and herb starts seasonally.

We are in the beginning stages of building out our ranch and most of our time is spent building infrastructure at this point. Thank you for visiting our web page.
